WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — New York City has seen a surge in restaurant openings in recent months as the city continues to reopen from the coronavirus pandemic, and a recent list from Eater NY just named a Washington Heights newcomer as one of the best restaurants to open this year in Manhattan.

The Singaporean eatery Native Noodles, located at 2129 Amsterdam, near West 166th Street, was named by Eater editors as one of the "15 hottest new restaurants in Manhattan" to open in 2021.

Native Noodles, which shot to popularity with a successful run at the Queens Night Market in 2019, opened in Northern Manhattan in February.

Here's what Eater editors had to say about the Washington Heights newcomer:

"The Washington Heights debut of Manhattan Singaporean restaurant Native Noodles marks a significant expansion for chef and owner Amy Pryke, who previously operated a popular food stall of the same name at the Queens Night Market. At the new brick-and-mortar location, Pryke has more room to expand the menu with different takes on Singaporean food including chili crab dip and satay noodles. Early fans of Pryke’s work at Queens Night Market will be pleased to find the chef’s popular interpretation of laksa, a spicy Southeast Asian noodle soup, on the permanent shop’s menu."

Eater also gave a sparkling review in May of Native Noodle's Roti John Sandwich, naming it one of the very best you can get in the city.

Favorites from the restaurant include Popcorn Chicken, Fried Wontons, Satay Noodles, Roti John Sandwiches, and Singapore Fried Noodles.

The restaurant's website says that "Native Noodles was founded in 2019, out of Singaporean founder Amy's longing for good food from home."
