Wash Heights ZIP Code Sees COVID Rate Jump Among Top In Manhattan

The 10032 ZIP code in Washington Heights has seen its COVID rate jump among the highest in the borough in recent days, city data shows.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A Washington Heights ZIP code recently saw its COVID-19 rate jump to among the highest in the borough, according to data from the city.

The 10032 ZIP code, which goes from around West 154th to West 174th streets, has a 12.54 percent positive rate from the most recent available period of Oct. 29 to Nov. 4.

It is among the 10 highest rates of any ZIP code in Manhattan and significantly higher than the surrounding Upper Manhattan areas.

  • 10040: 9.21 percent positive
  • 10034: 8.82 percent positive

From Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, the 10032 ZIP code saw 614 people get tested that resulted in 77 positive results, according to city data.

To give the 12.54 percent positivity in the Washington Heights ZIP code more context — the average during the period in New York City was 10.8 percent — with the lowest ZIP code posting a 3.1 percent positivity and the highest ZIP code posting a 17.5 percent positivity.

Elsewhere in Manhattan, the 10016 Murray Hill ZIP code has the highest COVID rate in the borough at 14.10 percent.
