Washington Heights A Train Service Suspended Over 5 Summer Weekends
On select weekends this summer, Washington Heights straphangers must not take the A train.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — You must not take the A train.
A bustling Washington Heights subway station will close certain weekends this summer as the MTA makes vital repairs, the transit authority announced.
The 181st Street A train station on Fort Washington Avenue will close five weekends between July 15 and Oct. 24 so the MTA can replace rails, switches and signals, according to the MTA.

During these weekends — July 15, July 22, Sept. 9 Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 — A train service will be suspended between 168th Street and Inwood-207th Street, the MTA said.
Shuttle buses will run along Broadway and Fort Washington Avenue when the trains are out — typically from 9:45 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday — between the stations, the MTA said.

Customers can also take the 1 train, which runs up St. Nicholas Avenue, and which will operate on a regular schedule between 168th and 207th streets, the MTA said.
Transfers from train to buses will be available at 168 Street, the MTA said.
