INWOOD, NY — A water main broke in Inwood late on Wednesday night, flooding streets with gushing water at the intersection of Dyckman Street and Nagle Avenue, according to the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.

A water main break is when a pipe bursts underground and water flows up onto the street from below ground, leading to low water pressure in nearby homes and businesses.

As of Thursday morning, the department is still working to isolate the leak and stop it, according to videos posted to X (formerly Twitter) at 9:50 a.m.
