Wild Shootout In Washington Heights, Passerby Shot: VIDEO

Three men carrying guns with lasers attached tried to jump two people in a car near West 159th Street, but the men fought and shot back.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A wild shootout took place in Washington Heights this week, when three attackers tried to jump two men sitting in a car, police said and video shows.

A trio of men carrying guns with lasers attached ripped open the car door of a Honda CRB parked on West 159th Street near Amsterdam Avenue on Wednesday, about 9 p.m., police said.

The attackers pulled the driver out of the car and threw him against the stoop of a nearby building, video shows.

The other passenger then steps out of the car and fires at the three attackers, as the attackers shoot back, police said and video shows.

The driver, who was getting punched by all three men, was able to rip one of the guns out of the attacker's hands, police said.

The shift in firepower caused the three attackers to run off, prompting the two passengers to get back in the car and drive away, police said.

During the shooting, a 33-year-old man who was standing on the street was grazed on his forehead by a bullet, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
