1 Out Of Every 12 Greenwich Village Residents Has Gotten COVID-19

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — One out of every 486 residents in Greenwich Village has died from the coronavirus, according to data from the city.

Of the 107,465 people that live within the 10003, 10012, and 10014 ZIP codes in Lower Manhattan, the city says 221 locals have passed away from the virus.

In terms of caseload, one out of every 12 locals has been diagnosed with coronavirus since the pandemic began in 2020.

10014: West Village/Greenwich Village

• Cases: 2,329 — One out of every 13 residents
• Deaths: 38 — One out of every 798 residents
• Vaccinated: 23,966 vaccinated, 22,379 fully vaccinated
• Case Rate: 7,677 per 100,000 (Lower than Manhattan's case rate of 8,878 and lower than NYC's case rate of 11,947)
• Death Rate: 125 per 100,000 (Lower than Manhattan's death rate of 279 and lower than NYC's death rate of 403.)
• Vaccination Rate: 79 percent (Higher than Manhattan's vaccination rate of 73.53 percent and higher than NYC's vaccination rate of 62.08 percent.)

10012: Greenwich Village/SoHo

• Cases: 1,912 — One out of every 12 residents
• Deaths: 121 — One out of every 926 residents

The 10012 ZIP code has the highest case rate in Greenwich Village, but 10014 had the highest death rate from the virus.

With the spread of the delta variant, virus rates are ticking back up throughout the city, including in Greenwich Village, where all three ZIP codes are between 3.18 and 3.40 percent positivity over the past week.

This is a bit lower than the most recent citywide average of 3.59 percent, but it is higher than the Manhattan average.
