E.A.K. Ramen: 469 Sixth Ave. (Near West 11th Street)

E.A.K. Ramen describes its signature dish as a marriage between Tonkotsu style from the west and Shayu style from the east, to create a distinct style of thick broth with a mixture of chicken and pork.

The chain was started in Japan in 2008, and there are now hundreds across the world.

Its Greenwich Village outpost opened in 2017.

"The broth in the signature bowl is a combo of pork and chicken, the noodles are firmer and thicker, and spinach has been substituted for the usual scallions," reads a description from Eater NY. "A nifty printed piece of nori branded with the restaurant’s name doesn’t let you forget where you’re eating."

E.A.K. Ramen's menu includes a Zebra ramen with spinach, chashu, butter, garlic oil, and noir, and an Oh So Hot! ramen with miso tare fried garlic, bean sprouts, cabbage, spicy ground chicken, and more.

Karakatta: 230 Thompson St. (Near West 3rd Street)

The popular ramen spot near Washington Square Park is run by two friends from college who are maybe best known for their spicy renditions of the popular dish.

Customer favorite menu items include Karakatta's butter miso ramen with pork belly, ground poor, leeks, scallions, cilantro, and a slice of butter, and the eatery's Tonkosutu ramen with sliced pork belly, kukurage mushrooms, shredded red ginger, fried garlic, and seaweed.

The eatery also offers Asian beers.

Here's what Eater NY had to say about Karakatta.

"An attractively designed space near Washington Square Park accented with neon lighting, Karakatta focuses on spicy renditions of ramen," Eater NY wrote. "Not that you can’t get some un-spicy bowls here — there are three types of cold ramen available — but the flagship is the spicy ginger stamina, pungent with fresh ginger and laced with chile oil."
