GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A Michelin star is generally considered the highest honor a restaurant can receive, and three Greenwich Village eateries just added the designation to their resumes.

The Michelin Guide announced its list of stars for New York City restaurants on Thursday. The famous guide added an eye catching 17 restaurants to the coveted one-star list, while removing eleven.

For local foodies, three Greenwich Village eateries earned their first Michelin Star: Frevo, Red Paper Clip, and Semma.

Frevo serves contemporary cuisine curated by Brazilian chef Franco Sampogna and Portuguese restaurateur Bernardo Silva.

The 14-seat counter is concealed by an art gallery, and allows patrons to oversee the chef's work. Along with it recently being awarded One Saar by the Michelin Guide, it also received Two Stars from New York Times critic Peter Wells.

"It's a tasting menu-only spot that doubles as a gallery," reads a blurb about Frevo on the Michelin Guide's website. "The small scale only adds to its exclusivity. Watch as the crew plates contemporary French dishes with a keen eye toward texture."

Red Paper Clip: 120 Christopher St.

Led by Queens native Kevin Chen, the Blue Hill at Stone Barns alum has helped his Taiwanese-American eatery earn its first Michelin Star.

"The team's steadfast commitment to local farms is the cornerstone of this kitchen, and seasonal dishes showcase the young chef's Taiwanese heritage and Queens upbringing through a fine-dining lens," reads a blurb about Red Paper Clip on the Michelin Guide's website.

Prior to the opening his restaurant, Chen worked as a pastry chef at SoHo House, before moving onto One if by Land, Two if by Sea.

Semma: 60 Greenwich Ave.

Semma is now the first Indian restaurant in New York City with a Michelin star.

The eatery focuses on cuisine from Southern India, and is part of an incredibly successful restaurant group that also includes Dhamaka and Adda.

The kitchen is headed by Chef Vijay Kumar.

Earlier this month, it was named by the New York Times as one of the 50 best restaurants in the United States.

The restaurant called the awarding of a Michelin star — "a proud moment."
