Cubbyhole has served the LGBTQ+ community and their friends since opening in 1994. The bar has happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., when you can get drinks at half off their normal prices.

Julius' Bar: 159 W. 10th St.

Julius' Bar is the oldest gay bar in New York City. It is also the site of the "Sip-in," which challenged regulations banning serving LGBTQ people in New York City.

The "Sip-In" took place three years before the nearby Stonewall Riots, which is generally considered to be the beginning of a new wave of LGBTQ activism.

The bar is cash only and is also known for its burger.

The Stonewall Inn: 53 Christopher St.

There is no more well-known LGBTQ bar than the Stonewall Inn. The West Village watering hole was the site of the 1969 riots that helped launch the gay rights movement in the United States.

While the bar can get a bit touristy at times, the inside has a pool table, a large bar, and a dance floor, according to Eater NY.

Hangar Bar: 115 Christopher St.

Hangar Bar is a gay bar that prides itself on the diversity of its crowd. There's good beer, pool tables and it only accepts cold hard cash.

Henrietta Hudson: 438 Hudson St.

If you want a bit more of a party, Henrietta Hudson is the LGBTQ bar for you. The brick-wall space has stained glass, a disco ball, and DJs bringing the tunes.

The bar is also one of the longest continuously running lesbian bars in the country.
