WEST VILLAGE, NY — A fire broke out early Tuesday morning within a building at the heart of the West Village, FDNY said.
Flames ignited around 1:20 a.m. in the basement of a building at 533 Hudson St., FDNY said.
An FDNY spokesperson told Patch that the fire was located in the basement of a vacant building or a building under construction at the address.

The popular Bayard's Ale House and a skylight installation business are located at the address, but it's unclear exactly where the flames took place.
FDNY responded with 60 firefighters, who had the blaze under control by 1:49 a.m.
