Cabbie Robbed For $10 In West Village: Police
A man with a sharp object robbed a yellow taxi driver in June, police said.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A yellow cab driver was robbed in June when a passenger flashed a sharp object at him, police said.
The 46-year-old driver was looking for fares near Charles Street and the West Side Highway when he pulled over to pick up a passenger at about 8 p.m. on June 21, police said.
As the cab came to a stop, the passenger oddly jumped into the front seat and was asked by the driver to adhere to the more traditional passenger location of the rear seats in the cab if he wished further service, officials said.

Turns out, the passenger was taking the cabbie for a ride instead and pulled out some sort of sharp object and demanded money from the driver, police said.
The would-be passenger ended up with only $10 — barely enough for a yogurt bowl from the neighborhood coffee shops — and fled on foot, according to police.
