Cookie Dough Hot Spot Made Students Sick, Lawsuit Claims

Two women claim that Do, the West Village sweet shop that serves ready-to-eat cookie dough, made them sick.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The West Village hotspot Do, which draws block-long lines for its ready-to-eat cookie dough, made two women sick, they claim in a new lawsuit against the sweet shop.

Do, which opened earlier this year at 550 LaGuardia Place, became an overnight success, drawing lines out the door and down the block for the cookie dough, which is served scooped into bowls like ice cream. Do says it's signature dish is safe to eat, unlike traditional raw cookie dough which contains raw eggs.

"It is completely safe to eat the way you’ve been sneaking it for years — straight from the mixing bowl," Do says on its website.
