Crook Pulls Knife During Theft At Greenwich Vil Morton Williams: Cops

The thief struck the 24-hour grocer early Wednesday morning, police said.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A crook with a sharp object threatened an employee during an early morning robbery at a Bleecker Street grocery store, officials said.

At about 3:15 a.m., a man, described by police as being five foot two inches tall, entered the 24-hour Morton Williams grocery store located on Bleecker Street and LaGuardia Place and attempted to steal some items from the shop, officials said.

When a worker at the grocer confronted the man, he pulled out a sharp object and threatened the worker, police said.

The crook ran off and fled south on LaGuardia Place, police said.

Officials could not clarify if the man successfully stole anything, and if so, what was taken, but a spokesperson noted that the criminal complaint is currently classified as a robbery.
