The protest is part of a nationwide general strike organized on Friday. The nationwide movement is encouraging Trump opponents to refrain from purchasing anything and organizing protests or other actions to oppose Trump and his actions so far. Organizers have named the nationwide day of action as the "Strike4Democracy," and say that there are more than 100 actions planned throughout the country.

"As the nation suffers through ICE raids, travel bans, Trump’s mobilization on the border wall, as well as attacks on the rights of workers, women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and our environment, February 17th provides a beacon to those who are searching for a way to protect and defend our shared humanity," the strike's planners wrote online.
