Goldman Rejects Donald Trump's Unexpected Endorsement In D-10 Race
"Trump is trying to meddle in an election," Dan Goldman wrote after the former president unexpectedly endorsed him.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Former president Donald Trump unexpectedly added his voice to the District 10 congressional race by endorsing Dan Goldman on Wednesday.
Goldman, a Democrat, quickly rejected the endorsement, saying that Trump was "trying to meddle in the election" and "pretending to endorse him."

"Layer Dan Goldman is running for Congress, NY-10, and it is my great honor to Strongly Endorse him," Trump wrote. "I do this not because of the fact that he headed up the Impeachment Committee and lost, but because he was honorable, fair, and highly intelligent."
"While it was my honor to beat him, and beat him badly, Dan Goldman has a wonderful future ahead."

Goldman, the former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, was the Democrats' lead counsel during the first Trump impeachment trial.
Goldman made no qualms in his response to Trump's endorsement, tweeting — "I'm coming for you, Donald."
"Last week, Donald Trump attacked Dan Goldman, who led his impeachment," Goldman's campaign wrote. "Now he's pretending to endorse Goldman. True to form, Trump is trying to meddle in an election."
"This is a pathetic attempt at fooling Democrats who are far smarter than Trump is, and it's clear that only one candidate in NY-10 is living rent-free in Trump's head."
Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou, who is competing against Goldman as one of the front-runners, tweeted her own response to Trump's endorsement of Goldman.
"Donald Trump just endorsed my multi-millionaire opponent, in case you needed a reminder of what the stakes are. #NY10, choose your fighter," she wrote on Wednesday.
Trump also endorsed Rep. Carolyn Maloney against Rep. Jerry Nadler and Suraj Patel in New York's newly formed District 12.
It was unclear what level of sarcasm was intended in Trump's endorsement posts.
