West Village Woman Dies After Box Truck Driver Hits Her Scooter, Runs Her Over

Molly M. Pearson died 4 days after the initial collision. Police said a box truck driver hit her, causing her to fall off her scooter.

WEST VILLAGE, MANHATTAN, NY — New York City Police say a West Village woman died last week after the driver of a box truck hit her scooter in Brooklyn and ran her over.

Molly M. Pearson, 24, of Cornelia Street, died four days after the initial collision near the intersection of Meeker Avenue and Skillman Avenue in Williamsburg.

Police said Pearson was driving a scooter eastbound on Meeker Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 2 around 11:18 a.m. The driver of a box truck made a right turn from Meeker to Skillman, hitting the scooter and causing Pearson to fall onto the road. The box truck then ran over her body, police said.

EMS transported Pearson to NYC Health and Hospitals Bellevue with severe injuries to her lower body. She was pronounced dead on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The truck driver remained at the scene, police said, and there have been no arrests .
