Here's Where The Greenwich Village COVID Rate Stands: City Data

As the COVID case count has stopped dropping across NYC, Patch took a look at the numbers in the West Village and Greenwich Village.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — As COVID rates are beginning to tick back up slightly among the city's unvaccinated population, the West Village and Greenwich Village are posting higher than average positivity rates across Manhattan.

Overall, while the city's population that are vaccinated — or vaccinated and boosted — have seen its COVID rate continue to drop, the group of unvaccinated people has seen an increase in cases since the beginning of September, according to city data.

The city's current seven-day positivity average is 9.51 percent, according to the city.

Here's how that compares to the West Village and Greenwich Village's three ZIP codes. All of the numbers are from Oct. 4 through 10.

10012: Greenwich Village/SoHo

  • Percent Positive: 10.77 percent
  • New Cases: 21 cases
  • People Tested: 195

10003: Greenwich Village/East Village

  • Percent Positive: 9.93 percent
  • New Cases: 56 cases
  • People Tested: 564

The West Village has a noticeably higher COVID rate than its surrounding areas and is among the 10 highest in Manhattan at 12.24 percent.

The ZIP codes in Manhattan with the highest positivity rates are in Midtown East and the Upper West Side, where the seven-day rates site at over 14 percent.

Throughout the city, the highest percent positivity rate in any ZIP code was 19.9 percent, and the lowest was 2.9 percent.

The neighborhoods with the highest current COVID rates are all in Staten Island and Queens.
Overall, cases dropped noticeably from June to the beginning of September, before leveling back off as the fall began.
