Iconic Jane Hotel In The West Village Is Permanently Shuttering
The longtime hotel and party spot will become a private social club. Here's what to know.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The iconic Jane Hotel in the West Village is permanently shuttering after more than 110 years in business, it announced on Instagram Thursday.
The famous party-spot at 113 Jane St. known for its disco ball and dance floor will have its last day on Nov. 18.
The hotel, which started in 1908 as a refuge for sailors, was recently bought by hotelier Jeff Klein, who plans to turn the space into a private membership club.

A liquor license application from the new owner to Lower Manhattan's Community Board 2 writes that the new club will be "designed to attract a diverse community of individuals, each contributing something unique to its soul and experience."
Klein is also the owner of Monkey Bar and City Club, and he plans on turning the Jane Hotel into one of his San Vincente Bungalow locations. The private clubs started in West Hollywood, which you can learn more about —HERE.

The West Village hotel has numerous eye-catching moments over the years, including serving as the home to survivors of the Titanic until the end of the inquiry on how the ship sunk, or where famous shows like "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and "tick, tick... BOOM!" first debuted.
The longtime theater inside the venue eventually turned into a ballroom.
It has remained a popular nightlife spot for New Yorkers and celebrities alike.
