Straphanger Punched, Robbed In West Fourth Street Subway: Police
Attackers repeatedly punched in the face a straphanger waiting for an F train in the West Village station, police said Wednesday.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Four attackers jumped a man, beat him and stole his wallet and cellphone in a West Village subway station, according to police.
The attackers repeatedly punched the 27-year-old in the face in the West Fourth Street station about 11:30 p.m. on May 3, police said.
The group punched him multiple times in the face, knocked him to the ground, and grabbed the belongings out of his pockets, police said.

The robbers then ran off toward the northbound F train platform, police said.
The man who was attacked suffered a cut to his head, but refused any medical attention at the scene, police said.

The four attackers were all wearing hoods, making it difficult for the cameras within the train station to pick up a clear photo.
Police described the group of suspects as being in their twenties.
