Man Hit On Head With Sword In Tribeca, Swordsman On The Loose: Police

The swordsman menaced a man riding an A train near Park Place and Church Street on Thursday morning, police said.

TRIBECA, NY — A swordsman hit a straphanger on the head with his sheathed weapon in Lower Manhattan Thursday morning, police told Patch.

The man was riding an A train near Park Place and Church Street, when he was "menaced" by a man carrying a sword about 9:30 a.m., police said.

The pair of men got into an argument and the straphanger followed the swordsman onto the street, where he was hit in the head with the covered weapon, police said.

The swordsman then ran away, police said.

The New York Post is reporting that the man who was attacked is Larry Griffin II, who is on parole after leaving at least two rice cooker bombs in the Fulton Street subway station in 2019.

The explosion never went off, but he was eventually charged with making false bomb threats.
