New Grocery Store Opens In Heart Of West Village: Offers Delivery

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The West Village got a new grocery store in April with the opening of Gourmet Garage.

The new Lower Manhattan location at 585 Hudson St. is the grocery store's fourth outpost in New York City.

"We're excited to finally let all of our new neighbors into our Hudson & Bank Street location (585 Hudson St.,)" reads the business's Instagram post about the opening. "Our newest neighborhood destination for fine foods, the West Village Gourmet Garage will help make mealtime more convenient with a large variety of chef-prepared grab-and-go options such as sushi, gourmet sandwiches, and soups."

The store offers organic produce, high-quality meat and seafood, signature soups, baked local bread and pastries, olive oils, prepared meals and more.

The new West Village location also offers delivery on all its in-story selections for home delivery in less than two hours through its Gourmet Garage app.

Gourmet Garage is also looking to give back to the West Village community.

In celebration of the new opening, the grocery store will be making donations to four organizations recommended by West Village residents: City Harvest, The Center, Bleecker Street Playground and the New York Public Library.

West Village Gourmet Garage is taking over the former home of Mrs. Green's Neighborhood Market, which closed in 2016.

Gourmet Garage was founded in 1981 as a food importer and distributor, supplying produce to restaurants across the city.

The business eventually opened its first retail location in SoHo.

"'Shop Like a Chef!' we declared, and we supplied our customers with the freshest fruit and vegetables, just-caught seafood, beautifully marbled meats, and the best and most diverse groceries available," reads a section on its website. "Now every kitchen in New York contained the same exceptional ingredients that Gotham’s leading gastronomic legends enjoyed."
