Only 7 Greenwich Villagers Tested Positive For COVID-19 Last Week
With vaccination rates continuing to rise in NYC, just seven Greenwich Village residents tested positive for the virus from June 12-18.
GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — The Greenwich Village adult population has reached the 70 percent first dose vaccination mark, and with that milestone, the neighborhood continues to see its COVID-19 rates plummet.
For the most recently recorded week, June 12 through 18, just seven people from Greenwich Village's 10014, 10012, and 10003 ZIP codes tested positive for COVID-19, according to city-data.
Otherwise, put — one Greenwich Villager a day tested positive for the virus last week.

Here's a breakdown of the numbers:
- 10014 (West Village/Meatpacking District): 4 people positive from 634 tested. 0.63 percent positivity rate.
- 10012 (Greenwich Village/SoHo): 1 person positive from 501 tested. 0.20 percent positivity rate.
- 10003 (Greenwich Village/East Village): 2 people positive from 1,056 tested. 0.19 percent positivity rate.
The lowered COVID-19 cases and rate in Greenwich Village come as the vaccination effort continues in the community. The average first-shot vaccination rate of the three ZIP codes is 70.33 percent.

Out of the three, the West Village's 10014 ZIP code has the highest first-shot vaccination rate at 74 percent, and 10003 has the lowest at 68 percent.
The COVID-19 rates in the Greenwich Village never jumped as high as other neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs, but by comparison, the seven-day average rate in the neighborhood at the end of February was 2.54 percent.
The current COVID-19 rates are the lowest seen in Greenwich Village since the city began tracking the data by ZIP code in the fall of 2020.
