Pair Of Teens Punch NYPD Cop In Head, Get Arrested: Police
Officials said that two teens punched an officer as police tried to clear a crowd just outside of Washington Square Park.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A pair of teens were arrested and charged after punching an officer in the back of a head as police tried to clear a crowd Sunday night, officials said.
A 16- and a 17-year-old were both arrested, both charged with one count of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, according to a police spokesperson.
Officers had called for backup at just before 7 p.m. Sunday to help with controlling a crowd just outside of Washington Square Park near Greene Street, officials said.

As officers attempted to get the crowd under control, two teens suddenly punched an officer from behind in the head, according to the NYPD.
The NYPD was unable to specify what event the crowd was affiliated with. Officials also said that it wasn't clear if the two arrested teens were even affiliated with the crowd officers were attempting to control.
