Police Search For Greenwich Village Sex Attacker: Officials

A man followed a woman and grabbed her from behind early Saturday morning, police said.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A man sexually attacked a woman on a Greenwich Village street early Saturday morning, police said.

At about 4:50 a.m., a 35-year-old woman was walking near 10th Street and University Place when a man approached her from behind, officials said.

The man, dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants with black sneakers, grabbed the woman in her private area, according to a police spokesperson.

As the woman started to run away from her attacker, she tripped and fell to the sidewalk, cutting her knee, police said.

The man fled in an unknown direction and is still at large, officials said.
