'Salt Bae' Steakhouse Is Coming To The Meatpacking District

You know the man seen in videos dramatically sprinkling salt onto steaks? His restaurant is coming to 412 W. 15th St.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Prepare for the Instagram videos. Nusret Gokce, otherwise known as "Salt Bae," is opening up a location of his Nusr-et steakhouse chain just outside the West Village in the Meatpacking District.

The restaurant's website says the location is coming soon, but Eater NY reported that it is expected to open at 412 W. 15th St. on Saturday.

The steakhouse is known for its "Crazy Menu," which comes equipped with steak, tomahawks, and other meats wrapped in gold foil.

Most of all, the restaurant chain is best known for Salt Bae's signature move, where he sprinkles salt in a dramatic fashion on a just-cooked piece of meat.

The Meatpacking location will be Nusr-et's second in New York City (Midtown), and come equipped with 160 seats over 6,700 square feet, Eater NY reported. The food news and review website added that the new location will also have a butcher shop.

There are more than 20 locations worldwide.

Many of Nusr-et's steaks can cost you over $1,000.

Gokce's restaurant group has also been subject to multiple labor lawsuits, including one that concluded in a $300,000 settlement for taking some of the tips before distributing them back out to employees, according to court documents.
