SOHO, NY — A fire in SoHo left a father and son in critical condition and injured three smoke eaters — including one seriously — on Monday night, according to the fire department and reports.

At just before 9 p.m., the FDNY first reported the fire inside a fourth-floor Sullivan Street apartment with an all-hands call, quickly upgraded minutes later to a second alarm.

It wasn't until over two hours later that the flames were declared under control, according to officials.

Two victims, a father, 95, and his son, 71, were brought to a hospital, both in critical condition, according to the FDNY, and another resident also received medical attention at the scene.

Three fire fighters were also injured, one seriously, said officials.

Fire officials said that the conditions inside the Sullivan Street apartment made it difficult for firefighters to attack the flames.

"You could only fit one person down the hallway at a time. On top of that, trying to move within that apartment is difficult because of all that clutter," said Deputy Fire Chief Michael Barvels, according to ABC News.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
