State Pot Dispensary Template To Be Unveiled In West Village: Report
The reopening of Smacked Village will be the first of 20 new pot shops featuring the new state-wide store template.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — The first official New York State cannabis dispensary will soon open in the West Village.
Well, not really. But it will be the first one to feature the full state-approved pot shop layout that will be the customizable standard for shops statewide, including 20 other stores currently under construction, according to CBS News.
The Bleecker Street store is owned by Roland Conner, the first social justice licensee to sell weed legally. He told CBS that he can't wait to serve his customers and work with his staff again.

"They stuck with us through the ups and downs," Conner said to CBS of the shop's workers "They're coming back, and we've all learned a really valuable experience from this whole movement."
The new design splits stores into different zones: a self-serve area, an express window to pick up orders and a retail counter with a friendly pot expert to recommend products based on customers' desires, CBS reports.

A co-owner of the firm behind the shop's design, Temeka Group, told CBS that the dispensary was set up to maximize profitability.
The store's build-out and development took about $1.5 million, with some of the funding coming from former NBA all-star Chris Webber's Webber Willis Ventures Fund, according to CBS.
Smacked Village will reopen in a week.
