WEST VILLAGE, NY — There are few more beloved New York City cuisines than Italian food and a recent list just ranked three West Village spots as among the best in the five boroughs.
Eater NY published a list Tuesday of "New York City's 20 Top Italian Restaurants" and the following West Village eateries made the ranking.

Here's what Eater NY had to say about it.
"Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli have ushered in a new era for red sauce cooking at this West Village restaurant," writes the editors from Eater NY. "The duo’s creative take on Italian American fare has included caramelle pasta with pickled cantaloupe and buffalo milk mozzarella in the past, and the garlic bread — sesame-seeded flatbread stuffed with stracchino and Parmesan — is a consistent hit."

L'Artusi: 228 W. 10th Street
L'Artusi presents a modern take on traditional Italian food and is named after Pellegrino Artusi and his self-published cookbook "La Scienza in Cucina e L'Arte di Mangiare Bene."
The eatery has 110 seats and a private dining option within its 2,500-bottle walk-in wine cellar.
"Bi-level Italian spot L’Artusi has reigned as a reliable staple in the West Village for over a decade," writes the editors from Eater NY. "And for good reason: It keeps crowds coming back with piles of spaghetti, twists of bolognese-slicked tagliatelle, and plate-sized spreads of shaved wagyu carpaccio splattered with horseradish cream."

Via Carota: 51 Grove St.
The Italian eatery states its aim is to honor markets and farms from one season to the next.
Owners Jody Williams and Rita Sodi both own and cook at other immensely popular restaurants in the West Village and joined forces to run Via Carota.
"For a larger meal, classics like the grilled chicken and tagliatelle with prosciutto will get the job done, but the stars of the show are often the restaurant’s vegetable dishes: The options change regularly, and it’s hard to go wrong," writes the editors of Eater NY.
