West Village Has Highest COVID-19 Rate In Manhattan: Data

WEST VILLAGE, NYC — The West Village has the highest COVID rate in Manhattan for the most recently available seven days, which includes the start of Hanukkah and Christmas Eve, according to data provided by the city.
The West Village's 10014 ZIP code had a seven-day positivity average of 22.04 percent from Dec. 18 to 24, data shows.
Along with being the top rate in the borough for the period, it was also the 13th highest of any ZIP code throughout the city.

The 22.04 percent positivity rate came from 54 people testing positive out of the 245 local residents that tested during the period, according to the data.
This elevated positivity rate came as many people traveled for the holidays.

Here are the five Manhattan ZIP codes with the highest COVID rates from Dec. 18 to 24.
- West Village, 10014: 22.04 percent
- Financial District, 10003: 21.43 percent
- Tribeca, 10007: 21.43 percent
- Harlem, 10037: 21.05 percent
- Harlem, 10039: 18.23 percent
Tottenville in Staten Island posted the overall highest COVID positivity rate in the city during the week at 26.61 percent.
The lowest? Borough Park in Brooklyn at 1.56 percent.
The overall COVID case rate across the city has started to take a downward turn after spiking slightly in the last week of November.
Hospitalizations and deaths are also falling.
