West Village Rapist Sentenced To 18 Months In Prison: Report

Davis Lange was found guilty in April of raping a 23-year-old woman in 2020.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A West Village man was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Monday after being found guilty in April for a 2020 rape and beating, according to reports.

Davis Lange, 27, was found guilty by a jury of raping and beating a 23-year-old woman inside his West Village apartment in November 2020, reports the Daily News.

Prior to the attack, the pair drank at a nearby bar, Wilfie & Nell, according to the Daily News.

Lange tried to convince the jury that it was a consensual act, but nobody bought his tale, and probation officials said that he posed a "danger to others" and "did not admit guilt not accepted responsibility" during an assessment, the News reported.

The victim wrote in a letter to the court that her life has been forever changed, and recounted waking up in Lange's apartment on Nov. 11, "bruised, concussed and bleeding."

"I spent the remainder of the day in the emergency room where nurses and doctors poked, prodded, and photographed the intimate parts of my body that had been violated by Davis. I received at least five painful shots, had to ingest upwards of 16 pills, and share the details of the assault with at least four different people before I went to sleep that night,” the victim, identified only as Audrey, wrote.

Following the attack, she fell into "a deep depression and struggled greatly with my physical health — chronically weak and repeatedly fainting — including on the first day of my new job that December.”

She also said that she was diagnosed with PTSD affecting her physical and sexual intimacy, crippling anxiety and thoughts of suicide, reports the Daily News.

Lange will have three-and-a-half years of post-release supervision and will have to register as a sex offender, in addition to staying away from his victim, according to the News.
