A person of interest is in custody as of 2:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. There are no other available details as of 3:30 p.m.

The 43-year-old woman was jogging along Pier 45 about 6 a.m., near West and Christopher streets, when a man grabbed her from behind and choked her unconscious, police said.

The woman was able to flag down another jogger, who called 911, police said.

There have been no arrests.

The shocking attack comes a month and a half after a man sexually assaulted three women jogging along the Hudson River Greenway in Upper Manhattan. Kenneth Walker, 31, has since been arrested in connection to the attacks, police said.

It also not the first time a jogger has been attacked and sexually assaulted in the West Village area this year.

Carl Phanor stands accused of attacking a 39-year-old jogger in March along the Hudson River Greenway near West and Clarkson streets, authorities said.

The attacker rode his bike near the runner, pushed her to the ground and began to assault her, police said. After sexually assaulting the woman, the man snatched her cell phone and fled on his bike, police said.

Phanor has been able to avoid arrest.
