3-Vehicle Crash With 1 Rollover On Sunrise Highway: Officials
Two were transported to area hospitals after the crash, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department says.
WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — At least two people were transported to area hospitals after a three-vehicle crash on the Sunrise Highway near the Westhampton Beach exit Monday night resulted in a rollover, fire officials said.
According to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, the crash took place at 8:30 p.m. in the westbound lane and involved a sedan, an SUV, and a pickup. The driver of the pickup told officials that the driver of the sedan clipped his left rear fender and continued on before hitting the SUV, causing that vehicle to roll over onto the grass on the north side of the highway, the Westhampton Beach Fire Department said.
The "badly damaged" sedan came to rest on the median a few hundred yards down the road, officials said. Westhampton Beach Fire Department Second Assistant Chief Larry Saccente was the first fire official on scene and said all drivers and passengers, including the driver in the rollover, were out of their vehicles upon his arrival, the fire department said.
