Fishing Rod Thief On The Hook After Felony Charge: Police

He stole a rod and reel worth more than $1,000 from a boat at the Hampton Bays marina, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A fishing rod thief is on the hook and facing a felony charge, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on Sunday, May 5, authorities responded to the Ponquogue Marina on Foster Avenue in Hampton Bays, after the theft of a fishing rod and reel worth more than $1,000 from a boat at that location.

On Tuesday, May 28, Daniel Sperrazza, 41, of Ridge, was arrested and charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and one count of petty larceny, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters and released for a future court date, police said.
