Man Charged After Brandishing A Knife In Hampton Bays Dispute: Police

He was arrested early Sunday after the menacing incident, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Shirley man was arrested after a dispute early Sunday during which he brandished a knife, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, a call came in about 1:06 a.m. from the occupant of a residence located in Hampton Bays, referencing a dispute possibly involving the use of a knife.

Patrol officers responded and found that two people had become engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated to one of them grabbing a kitchen knife and displaying it to the other person in a menacing manner; they were fearful that they were going to be stabbed, police said.

Pablo Antonio Aguilar-Alvarez, 35, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, police said.

Aguilar-Alvarez was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters, and held for morning arraignment, police said.
