Man Charged With Felony DWI In Hampton Bays: Police

He was arrested Thursday night, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY —A Selden man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated in Hampton Bays Thursday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 9:12 p.m. on Montauk Highway, when a driver was seen violating multiple vehicle and traffic laws

The vehicle was eventually stopped by Southampton Town police and upon further investigation, the driver, Vincent Fitapelli, 35, of Selden, was found to be operating while intoxicated by alcohol, police said.

Fitapelli was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for arrest processing; he was charged with one count of felony DWI and multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions, police said.

Fitapelli was held overnight to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment, police said.
