Man Found 'Nodding' In Car In East Quogue Charged With Felony DWI: PD

EAST QUOGUE, NY — A man found "nodding" in the driver's seat was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated Tuesday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, a welfare check call came in at 11:15 pm. about a vehicle, partially parked in the travel portion of the road on Montauk Highway, in the vicinity of Lewis Road in East Quogue.

Officers responded and determined that the man was intoxicated and asleep in the driver’s seat, with the engine running, police said.

Arturo Giraldo, 54, of Holbrook, was arrested and charged with felony DWI, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, circumvention of interlock device, a misdemeanor, and several traffic infractions, police said.

Giraldo was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
