Man Fraudulently Purchased Items From Hamptons Hardware Store: PD

Police are asking for the public's help to locate the man, officials say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — New York State Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man they said stole items from Shinnecock Hardware in Hampton Bays.

According to troopers out of the Riverside barracks, on March 5 at about 1:20 p.m., police responded to the store, located on W. Montauk Highway, after reports of a fraudulent purchase.

A heavyset Black man, described as 6-feet, 2-inches tall, entered the store and fraudulently purchased items totaling around $474.58, police said.

New York State Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man to call 631-756-3300. All calls will remain anonymous, police said.
