Editor's Note: The following was submitted by Westhampton Beach Trustee candidate Toni Jo Birk, who is also a former deputy mayor of the village.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Toni-Jo Birk and I am running for Westhampton Beach Village Trustee. For 6 years I was a Trustee and Deputy Mayor. This year, on June 21st, I am again asking for your vote.
As Trustee, I will bring civility back to the dais and work with my colleagues and the public, not against them. I will work to develop a much needed Capital Plan for the Village so there is a long term plan in place to support the Village's infrastructure and future needs. This is important for the Village and its residents, especially down the road when the real impacts of the 2% property tax cap are felt.
I will support the Village's Master Plan and Main Street businesses. As a small business owner in Westhampton Beach, I understand the importance of plans whose goals are to foster a balance between a thriving downtown and highway dependent uses. After much thoughtful public discussion and debate, the Village adopted its Master Plan and the Business District Update. It's important to follow these documents and should future circumstances warrant an update, that discussion can take place.
I will work to keep spending in line and to continue to provide services to Village residents. I have the experience and desire to work for the Village. I am always available to talk and look forward to discussing issues with you, the residents of the great Village of Westhampton Beach.
Thank your for your support,
Former Deputy Mayor and Trustee Toni - Jo Birk
