Temporary Beach Driving Closures, Put In Place Ahead Of Nor'Easter, Now Lifted.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Temporary beach driving closures, put in place ahead of a nor'easter that drenched the East End over the weekend, have been lifted, Southampton Town trustees said.

In coordination with Suffolk County, the Trustees of the Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of Southampton announced that temporary beach driving closures were lifted effective Wednesday at 9 a.m.

According to trustees, beach driving conditions have been assessed and are now open with advisories as follows:

Quogue Beach to Surf Club: Driving is passable.

West of Rogers: Driving is not advisable at this time.

Rogers to Pike's Beach: Driving conditions are good.

Between Swordfish and Rogers Beach: Driving is not advisable.

Between Flying Point and Fowlers Beach: Driving is good.

From Inlet to Ponquogue: Driving is skinny but passable.

"The Trustees urge all beach drivers to proceed with caution and remain aware that beach conditions are subject to change due to tides and weather," said Scott Horowitz, president, Southampton Town Trustees.
