Village To Discuss Supermarket Proposal at Work Session
A meeting to discuss Andrew Mendelson's supermarket proposal will be held at 7 p.m. at village hall.

Village trustees in Westhampton Beach are poised to discuss the village's master plan as it relates to supermarkets at 7 p.m. at village hall.
The meeting comes after the village postponed a discussion on developer Andrew Mendelson's proposal to open a 40,000 square-foot supermarket on Old Riverhead Road in Westhampton Beach in April.
Mendelson has long petitioned the village to add the words, "grocery store," to the village's B3 and industrial zones — zones where his 4.2-acre property sits.
Under current zoning, the B3 and industrial zones does not allow for supermarkets.
The village has contended that amending those zones would require an update to the master plan, which is something village trustees are not required by law to undertake.
Mendelson is asking that the public attend the meeting and support his bid to bring a new supermarket to the area.
Also on the work session agenda are the following discussion items:
• Daily fees for Rogers Beach
• Hanging flower basket donation
• Ariel photography of the village
• Upgrade of security cameras
• Unsafe properties
