West Islip Swimmer Sets New School Record

WEST ISLIP, NY — A West Islip High School student-athlete recently set a school record at this year’s Section XI swimming and diving championships.

Senior Jacqueline Triglia took fifth place in the 200-yard individual medley.

She swam the event in a school record-breaking 2:09.15, shattering her own prior school record of 2:12.14, which she had set just one week earlier.

Triglia is one of the most decorated swimmers in West Islip history, placing in the state championships, winning the 100-yard butterfly county championship in 2018 and 2019.

In addition, she holds the following school records: 200-yard individual medley
(2:09.15), 100-yard butterfly (55.91), 100-yard backstroke (59.11), 200-meter individual
medley (2:29.81) and 100-meter butterfly (1:06.00).

Triglia plans to attend the University of Rhode Island this fall, where she intends to continue her swimming career.
