Original story below.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — An unidentified woman was struck and killed by a southbound L Train entering the Montrose Avenue station in East Williamsburg around 4:15 Tuesday, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

An NYPD spokesman said the person was a female in her 40s. Her identity, however, has yet to be released.

The victim is believed to have "jumped in front" of the L Train, the police spokesman said.

L Train service was shut down in both directions between the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenue station in Bushwick and the 8th Avenue station in Manhattan's East Village until around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the MTA.

Service has since been restored with "residual delays."

Earlier in the day, a 33-year-old man was struck by a Manhattan-bound F Train in Queens when he tried to escape a crime scene via the express tracks. More on that incident here.
