On Sunday, June 2nd, the 12u Yorktown Huskers town travel Softball team completed a clean sweep of their competition winning the Spring travel season. They went 8 wins and 0 loses beating Shrub Oak's two travel teams and TM Select from the Bronx. The season was on the line when Yorktown played TM Select in a doubleheader for the final two games of the season. Both teams were undefeated and they would need a clean sweep to claim 1st place.
In the first game, the the Huskers jumped out to an early 3 run lead. They would give back two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning making the score 3-2. TM would take the lead in the top of the 3rd with a 2 out rally. Now it was 4-3 TM. Then in the 4th, the Huskers would take the lead for good, making the score 7-3. Final score Huskers 10, TM 6.
In game two, the Huskers took the lead early again, scoring 3 runs in the first inning. TM answered back in the bottom of that inning with two runs of their own. The Huskers would tack on 2 more runs in the 3rd inning to make the score 5-2. Eventually winning the game by the score of 12 to 3.
