17-Year-Old Accused Of Stealing Wallet From Gym Locker

Police said the teen used the victim's credit cards to make purchases.

YORKTOWN, NY — A teenage Yorktown resident was accused of stealing a wallet from a gym and using stolen credit cards to make purchases.

The Yorktown Police Department said the 17-year-old boy, whose name is being withheld due to eligibility as a youthful offender, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and third-degree identity theft and petit larceny, misdemeanors.

Police said they received a report June 1 of a past theft of a wallet.

An officer met with the victim who said that wallet, which included four credit cards, was stolen from his locker at 24 Hour Fitness May 30.

The victim also said there were several purchases made using some of the stolen credit cards on May 31, police said.

After an investigation, the 17-year-old was identified as the person making the purchases with the stolen credit cards, according to law enforcement.

On Wednesday, the teen arrived at the Yorktown Police Department with a parent and met with officers.

He was interviewed and, police said, he admitted to taking the victim’s wallet.

The teen was issued a juvenile appearance ticket for the above charges and released to the custody of the parent. He is due to appear in the Youth Part of the Westchester County Superior Court July 13.
