17-Year-Old Yorktown Boy Accused Of Stealing Cell Phone, Having Drugs

Police said the teen sold several items, including a phone, from a parked car.

YORKTOWN, NY — A 17-year-old Yorktown Heights resident was accused of stealing a cell phone and more from a parked car.

The Yorktown Police Department said the boy was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and move from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction.

Police said, shortly before 6 p.m. April 11, officers were called to investigate a report of a theft from a car parked at 1100 Saw Mill River Road, Turkey Mountain Park.

Several items, including a cell phone, were taken from the vehicle, according to authorities.

On April 27, the person who reported the theft called Yorktown police to say that the cell phone had been turned on and its location had been determined.

Police investigated and found the 17-year-old was unlawfully in possession of a stolen cell phone and 22 lisdexamfetamine pills, stimulants sold under the brand name of Vyvanse.

The boy was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.

The 17-year-old was issued a juvenile appearance ticket and released to a parent.

He is scheduled to appear in the Felony Youth Part of the Westchester County Superior Court Thursday.
