2 Arrested In Grand Larceny After Spree At Westchester CVS: Police

One of the pair was also charged with felony for being a fugitive from justice in New Jersey, according to police officials.

YORKTOWN, NY — A brazen shoplifting spree at a Westchester CVS has led to felony charges for a duo from New York City, according to police.

The Yorktown Police Department says that a Brooklyn man and a Queens woman were arrested and charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny. In addition, the Queens woman was also charged with the felony of being a fugitive from justice.

On March 20, police responded to the CVS located on Commerce Street, in the Town of Yorktown, for a report of a larceny.

After an investigation, police allege that 23-year-old Brandon Andres Montes Riano, of Brooklyn, and 35-year-old Yaneth Marcela Ortiz Trujillo, of Queens, stole multiple items from the store which had a total value of $1,425.36.

Yorktown detectives, with assistance from the Westchester Real Time Crime Center, were able to identify the vehicle used in the incident as well as the suspects.

On Saturday, the vehicle used in the theft was stopped by the Town of Bedford Police Department, and Riano and Trujillo were identified, police said. After Yorktown police were contacted, an officer and a detective responded to the scene and placed the pair under arrest. They were taken back to the Yorktown Police Department for arrest processing.

Police say Trujillo had an active warrant out of New Jersey. The Franklin Township Police Department was contacted and confirmed that they had an active arrest warrant for the Queens woman and wished to extradite her back to New Jersey.

Riano was released on his own recognizance, issued an appearance ticket, and is scheduled to return to the Yorktown Justice Court on April 15.

Trujillo was arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. She was due to appear in the Westchester County Court on March 31 and is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on May 1.
