2 NYC Women Accused Of Having Stolen Car, Drugs
Police were initially called to the mall for a report of theft.
YORKTOWN, NY — Two New York City women were accused of stealing a car and having drugs after being stopped for traffic violations.
The Yorktown Police Department said officers were sent to Ulta Beauty in the Jefferson Valley Mall to investigate a past theft around 2:45 p.m. March 7.
While the investigation was being conducted, a police sergeant saw a woman suspected in the theft and a passenger driving through the mall’s parking lot.

He tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the woman failed to stop and fled from the scene, police said.
A short time later, Westchester County Police saw their car on the Saw Mill River Parkway and were able to take the woman and her passenger into custody after a brief foot chase.

Yorktown police responded to the Westchester County Police headquarters and arrested the pair, who were taken back to Yorktown for processing.
Further investigation found that the car they were in had been reported stolen out of Boston, Massachusetts. Additionally, they were is possession of oxycodone which was found, police said, in the center console of the car.
Police said that Shayolanda Lewis-Major, 24, of New York, had a warrant out of New York City, and Dasani Mack, 21, of Brooklyn, had a warrant out of Horseheads, Chemung County.
Lewis-Major was charged with:
- Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
- Third-degree flee officer in motor vehicle, a misdemeanor
- Reckless driving, a misdemeanor
- Numerous vehicle and traffic violations
Mack was charged with:
- Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
Lewis-Major and Mack were arraigned and released on their own recognizance.
However, Lewis-Major was issued numerous traffic summonses and then turned over to the custody of the New York Police Department for the warrant.
Mack was turned over to the custody of the New York State Police for her warrant.
They are scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court March 23.
