3 Prior DWI Convictions Lands Man A Felony Charge: Police
Police said the Yorktown man had an open container of alcohol in his car.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man is facing a felony charge after being accused of drunken driving with two previous convictions.
The Yorktown Police Department said Guillermo Almanzar-Estevez, 54, of Yorktown, was arrested Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated, two previous convictions within 10 years, a felony, and consumption of alcohol in motor vehicle, a traffic infraction.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday, police were sent to 720 Lee Boulevard for a report of an intoxicated man who was about to drive away in a vehicle.

Officers said they located the vehicle with Almanzar-Estevez in it.
He was found to be driving while intoxicated by alcohol, police said, and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

Almanzar-Estevez was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.
Further investigation revealed he had three prior DWI convictions within the past 10 years. That, according to authorities, upgraded the charge from a misdemeanor to a felony.
Almanzar-Estevez was arraigned and bail was set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 bond and $50,000 partially secured bond.
He was turned over to the custody of the Westchester County Department of Correction and is due to be back in court Thursday.
