Budget Vote Results, Indian Point Siren Test, Park Passes Available

Here are five things you need to know today, May 16.

1. School Vote Results

School board elections and budget votes for the Lakeland and Yorktown schools were on Tuesday.  approving the budget would be best for the children. for the Yorktown results and for the Lakeland results. 

2. Indian Point Siren Test Today

Entergy will in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange counties today beginning at 10:30 a.m. All the sirens will be sounded for four minutes at full volume followed by an activation of the Emergency Alert System on radio and television stations. This is only a test. No response on the part of the public is necessary.

3. Park Passes Now Available at Many County Park

A Westchester County Park Pass is your key to enjoying more than 50 recreational facilities this summer, from pools and beaches, parks and golf courses, and to nature preserves, and even an amusement park and a working farm.  age 12 and older who has either a driver’s license or photo identification with proof of Westchester residency. 

4. Looking for Ideas from Community Members

The Yorktown Board of Education is looking for ideas from community members and businesses to assist the district through corporate sponsorship (signs, uniforms, etc.) Contact Karen Corrado at Kcorrado@yorktown.org with any ideas or suggestions.
