Cell Phone Use Leads To Driving With Suspended License: PD
Police initially stopped the woman because they said she was on the phone while driving.
YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown woman accused of using a cell phone while driving faces other charges.
The Yorktown Police Department said Ashley Johnston, 28, of Yorktown, was charged Thursday with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, operating a vehicle while cell phone in use, a traffic infraction, and more.
Police said an officer traveling on East Main Street around 5:15 p.m. Thursday said he saw someone using a cell phone while driving.

A traffic stop was conducted and Johnston was identified as the driver, police said.
A check of her license found it had been suspended, police said, and she had committed multiple other traffic infractions.

Johnston was arrested and processed at the scene.
She was issued traffic tickets and released on her own recognizance to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court May 26.
